Trail of the Week: Mount Timpanogos

By Utah Untamed Editorial · Published

At 11,752 feet, Timp is the second-highest peak in the Wasatch Range and the one most Utahns count as a rite of passage.

The Timpooneke route is the gentler grade; Aspen Grove is shorter and steeper. Either way, start before dawn to beat afternoon thunderstorms and to catch the basin’s wildflowers in full color.

What the climb asks

It’s a long day — 14-plus miles round trip with real elevation. Bring layers; the summit can hold snow into July.
